Bodyguard-Movie Review

Cast: Slaman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Raj Babbar
Director: Atul Agnihotri
Rating: * * * *

Its again Slaman Khan’s movie to start the festive season , yeah , I refer to Dabangg and Wanted releases in the yester years. And this funda has worked for Slaman Khan to make a big come back with occasion of EID. Bodyguard so far has been estimated to break all the records of Salman Khan’s movies and rightly said so.
Story:  As depicted in the trailers Slaman has been punctual and loyal without any match to him . Salman named as Lovely in this movie is assigned the job Bodyguard to guard beautiful college girl Divya(Kareena Kapoor: do I need to mention this?).Divya is daughter of business tycoon Sartaj Rana(Raj Babbar). Lovely has been very protective which is taken as a burden by Divya who feels Lovely to be a big hurdle in her college and personal life. Just to add masala in this movie which is an essential part of all Salman’s recent releases , Divya plans to get rid of him by trapping him into a fake love. She pretends to be in love with Lovely and she can not live without him and she wants to pend entire life with him. She is well supported by her friends too who were feel the same obstacle about Lovely.

The movie takes a romantic turn before the next addition of Lovely’s dishoom dishoom funda. But things take an unexpected turn when she learns a few things about Lovely. Things that she could've never even imagined. And she soon finds herself trapped in a dilemma that she's unable to resolve. And with her, soon enough, Lovely finds himself trapped in a web of lies, trickery and deceit.
Salman's fans are sure to lap this knockout performance in a big way. BODYGUARD would be incomplete without Kareena's contribution. Some roles are tailor-made for actresses who can deliver with aplomb and who better than Kareena to infuse life in a challenging character. She looks gorgeous [as always] and gives this character the dignity that it deserves. Raj Babbar is perfect. Mahesh Manjrekar is as usual. Aditya Pancholi, in a cameo, stages a welcome comeback. He's first-rate. Rajat Rawail is a joy to watch. He's truly funny. Hazel is quite good. Asrani and Vidya Sinha are okay in their respective parts. But unexpectedly there is a shocker for you  immediately after the pee break and at the beginning of climax. This might be considered as Salman’s  best performances in recent times
Conclusion, there can not be any other movie so perfectly timed to start this festive season, full marks to screenplay, capitivating music and Salman does the rest to hit the box office with another stunner.Oho I missed Kareena who fills the space of an actress just like any other movie. You should not miss this!!!!!

Chasing Madoff - Movie Review

Cast: Bernie Madoff ,Neil Chello, Gaytri Kachroo
Director:Jeff Prosserman
Rating: * *

Chasing Madoff is a well portrayed  documentary movie rich in content and concept and surely setting it different from other releases this week. Anyone can imagine spontaneously how to get away with crime training manual - and detection for that matter .
Jeff Prosserman's Chasing Madoff likewise projects a wag the dog duality after deletion. That is, the concept of the movie.
The most important protagonist in question in Chasing Madoff is Harry Markopolos, a self-described Boston based securities analyst turned 'vigilante investigator.' Inspired from  his NY Times hot-seller 'No One Would Listen,' Chasing Madoff honestly and boldly depicts  the securities about the subsequent convicted felon's predatory stock profile Ponzi scams, that cheated investor victims to the tune of billions.
And not only was Markopolos ignored by dismissive, skeptical journalists and other professionals, but he was afraid of the consequences that may follow. Madoff's possible financial ties to mob elements are insinuated, and Markopolos gets weapons training and checks his car's undercarriage daily for bombs.
The flaw in this movie, is that a narrative where the ending is clear right from the beginning suspense and genuine screenplay which is missing through out this well thought documentary.
The director adds to his list of blunders by focusing more on  Markopolos and his mysterious posse of talking heads, instead of creating better and impactfull screenplay moving around the axis of this movie Madoff .
And while there are intimations of assorted sinister biasism - like Wall Street players not willing to risk their own careers or relationships with investors by turning whistleblowers themselves - those more worthy topics for inquiry barely skim the surface. And as for Markopolos, when 'No One Would Listen' way back when, why didn't he turn to filmmakers like Prosserman in the first place?

Yeh Dooriyan- Movie Review

Cast:  Deepshikha, Achint Kaur,Delnaaz Paul,Inder Kumar
Director:Deepshikha
Rating:***
Yeh Dooriyan is the story of an independent and young divorcee aged 35, named Simmi. She has a lot of self respect and in the entire movie she maintains on that end only irrespective of various dramatic Indian masala movies scenes. She works as dance teacher and has two kids whom she loves a lot. As seen in real world she is forcd by her fmily and friends to restart her life with second marriage but she denies looking into the future of her kids . As she thinks the second marriage may cause worrisome in the lives of of her kids and her partner may not give them the same love.
Here comes the entry of of young and dashing Raj who joins Simmi's academy for for learning dancing and as expected in a masala movie he falls in love with Simmi. When he comes to know about her previous married life and divorcee status his love not only deepens for Simmi but also starts caring for her kids. Simmi too starts liking him because of his care about her kids. They decide to marry but the whole movie takes a turn when Raj's mother denies to accept their relationship. She goes with the same mindset as all Indians have about marrying an older woman with two kids. She is worried about her community and social circle.
The concept is fresh and it reveals the mindset of a woman who is divorced, but unfortunately the simplicity of the story acts like a hitch, making it way too predictable. It lacks twists to make one sit for the entire duration, but manages to entertain in parts. What stands out is the climax, which is treated with a different angle and not attempted to create a mushy flavour, for the heck of a happy ending.
As far as the performance is concerned Deepshika Nagpal has done a brilliant job and justifies her selection in this role. She portrays the struggle of a single mother, though not flawlessly, but effortlessly. Kaishav Arora performs very professionally without any glitch in his  role just adding to his dynamic personality.
Full marks to the director Deepshikha for choosing a feminist subject and the treatment meted out to it.Since the story revolves around one character, it takes away the chance from the director to make her other actors perform too.
Verdict: Yeh Dooriyan has all the aspects to glue the audience to the seat but at box office it may fall short looking into its poor promotion just adding to another drawback to a low cast low budgeted movie. But Yeh Dooriyan is not worth of keeping dooriyan from it ..just go and watch for fun.

Shabri-Review

Cast: Eesha Koppikhar
Director:Lalit Marathe
Rating:****
Lalit Marathe living under dark clouds since his ambition and project did not get green flag for many reasons. SHABRI, everyone knows it was not his wrong doing or fault leading to this kind of worst situation causing him and the other members to live in depression and financial loses as well. Everyone believes that Ram Gopal Varma went through some trying times during the time when the film was first slated for release.
Bu just like the flavor of the month,Anna , Marathe also did not let his heart down and kept his hope alive to relaunch the movie . And now we see Marathe is one of the happiest directors to launch the movie at this time of the year when the entire wind is blowing to air this issue. .

SHABRI has its own unconventional pace of running on the screen, and that makes this movie easily digest able and has more chances of having acceptnce in the public.. All actors chosen to play their parts give a first rate performance, with the exception of Zakir Hussain whose role is not properly defined. It's actually like an irritant, which could have been done away with. A fly who falls in your garam chai! The other asset of this movie is
is its screenplay which describes Shabri as one of the best work of Bollywod in the recent time.
Marathe has focused on the box office performance from the beginning.Anyone can imagine his brilliance in blending the appreciable work and the  box office return too. He intelligently mixes the urban setting with the shot of a gun. A fun time for four friends at a coffee outlet turns abruptly on its head as a body lands on their table. Gripping. The face of the central character, SHABRI, played by Isha Koppikar fills the screen from an upper window. Marathe has your attention. He then rewinds to establish Shabri's walk into the crime world. Having said that, he lacks the punch in the second half where the film tends to veer off course, thanks to the character of Zakir Hussain.

Verdict: A must watch for all unconventional movie lovers and Shabri all chances to rock at box-office too.

Circumstance- Movie review

Written By: Maryam Keshavarz
Cast: Nikohl Boosheri, Sarah Kazemy, Reza Sixo Safai, Soheil Parsa, Nasrin Pakkho, Sina Amedson, Keon Mohajeri

Rating: ****

Circumstance is really a stunning representation of contemplative women world struggling to find their freedom and independence from the male CWP. Directed by Maryam Keshavarz, has done brilliant job in casting and outlining the new definition of love and romance with creatively new features two of the strongest performances of the festival in Sarah Kazemy and  Nikohl Boosheri. Both perform young, sensuous and liberated women living in an Iran determined to be socially suppressed and downgraded by other developed societies. The lead of this movie Shireen (roll played Kazemy) is the daughter of super intelligent writer who also outrages as rebellion long since disappeared, the young woman taken in by her best friend Atafeh’s (Boosheri) family. Atafeh’s a talented musician and diligent student, eager to be playing with that girl so as to explore their feeling to the fullest.
But to the surprise of all Shireen has to offer as much, and then some. After few days of long intimacy both of them know the  each other’s emotion, sensuos feeling points, bodies, and their romance triggers ver well. But this does  not seem to be forced and unconventional, kudos to  both to both the  young performers who made the scenes look very natural and without any over-act or unpredictable  reality and the confident framing of Keshavarz and his cinematographer Brian Rigney Rubbard.
Punk rock and club music populate the film, adding edge to a common story. The color tone goes from hot to cold from scene to scene, never feeling out of place or abrupt. The plot moves calm and cooly, a deliberatey-paced slow burn that brings all of the issues to the surface deep into the third act without ever patronizing the viewer.
The movie continues to explore the horizon of their feelings with some new and a blend of conventional unacceptable features that they have to hide from the society. Mehran (Reza Sixo Safai), Atafeh’s ex-drug addict brother, becomes more  religious. He then starts forcing both of them to follow the conventional releigion and become more spiritually pure by giving up their wrong deeds and even confessing the same.
Verdict: Shaan

Our Idiot Brother- Review

To the surprise of all the audience Paul Rudd playing the roll of Ned, the most charming and acceptable hero at the core of Jesse Peretz‘s My Idiot Brother. The most effective star cast  includes Elizabeth Banks, Rashida Jones, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn and T.J. Miller, Rudd glides through the film, rolling with a seemingly insurmountable amount of punches.
He was arrested for trading marijuana to a cop, Ned’s parole officer introduces himself slowly, pronouncing each syllable intentionally and loudly at some time. When questioned by Ned, the parole officer tries to circumvent with the answers like he’d just assumed “ Ned was retarded because of how he went about getting arrested.” Ned’s a genuine and selfless guy, living in a selfish and cruel world. His simple and charming personality helps in getting the attention dn love of Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall who generate   plenty to smile at and just enough to laugh at. Surprisingly Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up or dramatically-forced as Funny People. Much like its hero, the film has huge fan following because of its honest charactrisation and also by the performance of the supporting cast who did not let the producer and the director down. Full credits to the screenplay as well helping to utilize each and every moment to the fullest.
Ned , after coming out of the jail , is soon crashing with his three sisters (Banks, Mortimer, Deschanel). Banks plays the roll of Miranda, a shroud journalist with a low-strung neighbor, played by the scene stealing Adam Scott.
Mortimer’s Liz is a mother, wife of a ingenuine and selfish British husband played by Coogun.  Deschanel plays Natalie, the free-spirit of the family, complete with a lesbian-lawyer girlfriend (Jones) and a worrisome attraction to a cult-following artist (Dancy). Not unlike Scott, Jones has better performance and much appreciated during a funny scene including the theft of a pet dog and leading all the cast behind with in depth understanding of the roll and finally coming out with great performance .Kudos to him for his genuine effort as well.. Thanks must also be given to costume designer Christopher Peterson, who adorns Jones’ Cindy with face swallowing glasses, smartly separating her character from the slew of other beautiful, talented actresses running around.
Ned gets a dreadfull life in the family as he is forced out of home all the time almost after every alternative scene of the movie by his brothers and sister. Costume designer Christopher Peterson has done remarkably wonderfull job by creating a brand new look for all the casts especially Jones who keeps on attracting through out the movie.
Verdict:  Looking into immense fun factor and a new concept blended with high quality performance by all makes it a must watch for all this weekend.

Bad Teacher- Review

Star cast: Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel, Lucy Punch.
Rating:**
Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg’s story and screenplay are inspired from the fact that you have a bad, sexy woman doing erotic poses on the screen. There is huge probability that the viewers are going to like this concept and performance by hot CAMERON DIAZ.
More important thing for this movie that huge number of viewers especially youngsters  of both the sexes who might find some appeal in such erotic and free style sexy hot performance by CAMERON DIAZThe Sweetest Thing (Unrated Edition) .
Especially, since the film lacks in content , it may not get so much appreciation in Indian film viewers mainly the critics like me. The entire movie script is blended with funny and hot features  and comic dialogues here and there, these do not make up for the lack in content.
That Elizabeth gives up on her quest for big breasts and a moneyed boyfriend so easily in the climax is jarring and an out-of-turn development that is unacceptable for the  Indian audience. But as the movie is centered for  school, at least one or two students should have had memorable or interesting characterisations or important roles to enact but that doesn’t happen. Several scenes – including the one in which Elizabeth and Scott are dry-humping – make the audience wince.
Verdict: The movie basically relies on the hot and sexy poses of hollywood actress Cameron Diaz instead of her performance and no effort in preparing well written script. The movie can be viewed even on mute mode!!!

Aarakshan

Movie
Aarakshan
Director
Prakash Jha
Cast
Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar
Rating: ****
Aarakshan is about different aspects of the Indian education process, the reservation law being is one of them. Aarakshan's genuine and serious grief cannot be questioned, but if a topic is important enough to be the film’s title, it has to be purely debated first.
Aarakshan sweeps in strong and high intense  into the tough territory, but post pee-time, diverts from the original issue. Stupid it may be, the first half focuses on the reservation plot revealing us how students, parents, teachers, politicians are differ on this  sensitive issue.
This is explored within the reign of a highly respected college leader and principled by Dr Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan).  He doesn’t think again while rusticating the son of a trustee or thrashing his most intelligent professor for getting into a wrong deeds.
When the 27 per cent reservation quota for backward castes in government institutions is upheld by the Supreme Court, it creates a ripple of celebration on one side, and angst on the other. Prabhakar doesn’t take a stand, even when directly asked whose side he’s on. He has been quietly teaching poor students .
The implementation of the reservation has a strong effect on the college. The professor Prabhakar takes his decision but results into losing his favorite student.
Prakash Jha should have taken a clear stand. You might not  go with the thoughts of central character Prabhakar, but you will applaud that through this character, Jha makes the film’s leanings clear. It’s such a difficult thing – not to sit idle. And then, just as you’re fully immersed in this concern, the film changes tracks. Just like that.
The second half is better but does not go with the theme of   'Aarakshan'. It becomes a center of  fight between considering education as a business and teaching as a noble profession.Prabhakar’s character is the only one that remains steady and consistent. The others keep on shifting their stance, their views thoughts and and issues.
Amitabh Bachchan’s performance is worth appreciation.  The other character which is worth applause is Deepika.
Saif and Prateik are  superb but they keep on changing their issues so made them quite diverted from the issue.
Verdict: "Aarakshan " although diverts from the title but still manages to convey more realistic issue of business of education.Go watch it with your family and social circle!!
